It’s my first time to live in a very long distance with people that I love. I used to live in Pariaman, grew up in my home town. Even though I went to college in Padang which is about 1 and half hour from my home town, I still often visited my family in the weekend. But now, I live in Grobogan, Central Java. It is something that I am not familiar with. All the thought came into my mind, I was both excited and nervous. I am afraid I might not be able to stay away in long distance with my lovely people.
At 2nd December this year, I went from Jakarta to Grobogan, I flew to Solo first, then I went to my place in Grobogan by using car. It took 3 hours from Solo. The road is broken. I really need to tighten my seatbelt. It was a challenging trip for me. When I arrived in my place, Kenteng village the weather was very hot. So hot, until I got headache. Pariaman is also hot because it is near to the beach, but Kenteng is the next level of Pariaman, hotter.
I tried as much as I can to adapt here. In the beginning I struggled with the food. In my home town, usually the food is served with many chili and flavorful, but here people rarely put chili into their food. Not only that, the schedule to do Salat is also different here with my daily in Pariaman. For example, Subuh Pray in Pariaman is at 04.50 but in Kenteng is at 03.45. see? I have to wake so early to do Subuh prayer. In my first week here, I was sick. It was because I did not use to wake earlier and stay awake until 7 pm.
But today is my 18th day in Kenteng, Grobogan. I feel much better. My body adapts well. I also start to explore many places here. I love houses here, most them are Java traditional house, Joglo.
